A couple of years ago, my boyfriend crashed his car into a fence, tearing off the front bumper. The fix was quick, not to mention a great improvement on Honda's original design: he grabbed a broken section of the chain link fence and zip-tied it to the intact frame of the car to create a grill, then grabbed one worn out car tire, cut it in half, and bolted the two halves to the grill. He could safely bump anything up to 20 mph, including my car. It was too much fun, and fit right in here in DIY-loving Tennessee.

I really enjoyed the show today (1104), BUT I was miffed for two seconds at the statment "...women do not like to get dirty..." and when that woman stated "...women do not like to work on cars." I have been interested in cars since I was 8 or 9. This was not incouraged. I tried to get into autoshop in 9th grade (92-93) 11th grade and 12th grade. 9th and 10th I was told that girls could not join the class and 12th grade my mom would not let me. In 1998 I bought a Vogue Silver Honda Civic Hatchback and I did my work. I would talk her to the "Hobby Shop" on base and the guys would help when I needed and let me do what I needed to w/o assistance. I currently own a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 conversion van and I have replaced my -PCV valve -Frount breaks Lt & Rt -oil & filter -transmission filter -spark plugs and wires -inner frount wheel barrings -air filter -hearter control switch -fuses -back lightbulbs -that fuse for the battery -the battery -rotery button -distributor cap -windshheil wiper motor -top all fluids -put "sea foam" in oil and gas -replaced the t-valve on my heater hose on the Dodge dealers service lot while visiting my mom in Boston (my favorite job yet. i got two job offers) Many women may not like to get dirty/work on cars, but this one enjoys the saticfaction of a job well gone and to know that I was not over charged on labor. I do not know everything, but I am not afraid to get dirty and I will reseach what I need to do before starting the job.
