#1217: Cynthia and the Swimming Goats

Apr 28, 2012
This week on Car Talk, Cynthia's 1987 Vanagon is dying, so she needs a new ride for her three Nigerian swimming goats. After all, the goats have to get to their pool parties, right? Another family transport crisis is unfolding in San Diego, where Scott's wife wants to buy a motorcycle complete with a sidecar, to get around town with their two small kids. Meanwhile, Kat in Seattle is about to learn an expensive lesson about why you shouldn't speed over speed bumps; and, Lisa's efforts to save money on a catalytic converter revives the adage, "It's the stingy person who spends the most." Also, Dan is about to sell the car his son was born in, but wants to keep a memento--the front seat?!! All this, plus a new Puzzler from the Games of Chance series, and lots more, this week on Car Talk

One of the Best Episodes, Ever!

I've listened to this episode twice! And the advice about the 2002 Subaru Outback catalytic converter was totally correct! I recently replaced mine in my '00 Outback. Luckily the dealer mechanics told me in advance that the aftermarket cc would NOT work! I spent the $1450 and my Outback runs like a dream, with no pesky check engine light shining!

The lady who rides her goats around with her in the van! No one could have made that up...
