Time for a new puzzler. This one is literary in nature.
Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are relaxing by the fire in the study of 221B, Baker Street. Holmes was puffing on his favorite pipe while Watson was reading the paper.
Suddenly, Watson glanced over the top of the newspaper and looked directly at Holmes. "What is your birthday, Holmes?" he asked.
"You tell me, Watson," said Holmes with a smile. "The day before yesterday, I was 32 years old. And next year, I will be 35."
"Impossible!" Watson snapped.
But Holmes was right.
The puzzler is, what day of the year does Holmes celebrate his birthday?

Here is the answer.
They were sitting by the fire on January 1st when this conversation was happening.
Holmes birthday is December 31st. So yesterday was his birthday.
The day before yesterday, he was 32. (The day before his birthday, of course.)
So yesterday, he turned 33.
So this year, on December 31st, he will be 34, and next year, he will be 35.
Trick question, but a good one.
