Mopar manages the extended warranty offerings for the Chrysler brands that are a part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). This includes Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo. The company also provides coverage for select other makes on a case-by-case basis.
Mopar offers three extended warranty plans. There’s the basic Powertrain Care, followed by Added Care Plus, and finally Maximum Care sitting at the top. There’s also the option to add Road Hazard Tire and Wheel coverage to any of those plans.
Here’s how Mopar coverage for Chrysler vehicles breaks down for the 10 most expensive vehicle repairs.

You can get a quote online, but only for vehicles no older than the 2017 model year with no more than 36,000 miles. If you want a quote outside those parameters, then you’ll need to speak with a representative for a figure. Depending on the coverage and the vehicle, plans range from around $1000 up to $4000 per year.

(*) Sample cars were for the 2017 model year with 36,000 miles. If you are looking for a warranty, you likely have more miles than this. Your quote will likely be very different once you submit your VIN number. Unfortunately, the only way to get a more accurate quote is to bite the bullet and give them a call.
All service must be done by the dealership where you purchased the warranty or where you purchased the vehicle if the warranty was done through a Mopar representative over the phone. The dealership will then obtain approval to perform repairs under the warranty. If you’re too far from your dealership, then you can get authorization to use another dealer.
Mopar covers all Chrysler (FCA) vehicles. This includes Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, and Alfa Romeo, and select other makes on a case-by-case basis. There are situations where even an FCA vehicle won’t be covered.
Non-covered parts: Parts that are not covered by the warranty may result in a claim being rejected.
Scheduled maintenance neglected: If you ignore scheduled maintenance and this causes a problem with a warrantied system, the claim may be denied.
Unauthorized repairs: Make sure your repair is done at the dealership where you purchased the warranty or that you receive approval to use another dealership if you’re too far away. Otherwise, claims could be refused.
It should say something that when we searched for reviews, we found exactly one positive review, amongst a million negatives. This isn’t unusual with warranty companies, though, and most of the negative comments have to do with NOT READING THE CONTRACT FIRST.
Positive Reviews
“Excellent customer service. Timely in getting the job done.” - Jolene, BestCompany
Negative Reviews
“I purchased an extended warranty from Mopar. I am still waiting on a $600 refund since I traded in the vehicle 4 months ago.” - Ron, Better Business Bureau
“My Jeep was totaled, I attached the documents they requested, followed up by email with no response. I finally called and CSR stated they never received the documents. Do not get anything from Mopar extended warranty. They owe me a refund of almost 600 dollars. Doubt I ever see it.” - Collen W., Better Business Bureau
The decision to purchase an extended warranty depends on your car and your comfort level with paying for unexpected repairs. If you are worried you won’t have the money and the thought of having a mechanical breakdown makes you anxious, then an extended warranty can help remove that anxiety. Instead of breaking your budget, you can pay the cost of the warranty more easily.
An extended warranty is also a good idea if your car has a questionable reliability record. If the make or model is one known for having problems, then it’s not a bad call to have an extended warranty to help manage repair costs.
The downside of an extended warranty is that you may not need one. New cars are covered by lengthy manufacturer’s warranties that often last past the time when many people own their vehicles. If you don’t plan on keeping your car past the original warranty period, then an extended warranty is unnecessary.
Always be wary of calls out of the blue offering an extended car warranty. These are generally scams. Do your own research and choose a provider with an established reputation.
