Been taking my 89 Honda Civic there since I moved to Maine
about 3 years ago. Their work is OK but pricey. On a recent
safety inspection, they replaced a tail light and charged
me $1 for the part and $14 for labor!! I complained, but
the service rep said they charge by the book. I'm looking
for another place to take my car for service. I may return
for major work, but not for routine work. Also, I will
return for a new muffler when it goes because that's under
warrantee.

7/2008. I've lived in Northern Maine for over ten years
and usually have my vehicles fixed by a local mechanic but
when it is feasible and for certain repairs I prefer to
travel 3 hours to Bangor. The best dealer repair shop in
over 35 years of driving experience. I've been to Hawaii,
Virginia Beach, VA; Sumter and Greenville, South Carolina;
Valdosta and Tifton, Georgia; Fairborn and Dayton, Ohio;
Palm Coast, Florida; Phoenix, Arizona and several dealers
in Bergen County, New Jersey. By far the best and most
reasonably priced of all dealer shops I've dealt with. Use
the shuttle to visit the mall, friend or restaurant in the
city area while your car is being fixed - NO CHARGE. Staff
is very friendly and fair. And relax, they will do it
right or fix it within reason!

Our starter went on a thursday and I took it to an
independent shop that was recommended. They kept it
overnight before they acknowledged they couldn't fix it. I
went to Darling's on friday afternoon. They fixed it in
one hour [4pm-5pm] snd my son was able to go to his
birthday party which was being held 100 miles away at
Grandmother's house. They charged $335but I was happy
because it was in a hard to get at spot.

Rick has treated me right since day 1. The prices are higher than an
independent shop, I'm sure, but I trust him and his crew to always do it
right the first time. The only thing this shop could do better is have
longer hours (though they are very accommodating when you can't be
back at the shop to pick your car up before they close). I used their
shuttle service once several years ago and was late for work, despite
allowing much more time than I thought was necessary to get there, but
I believe they have added vans to their courtesy fleet so that probably
would not happen again.

Darlings Honda Service Review
Our experience with Darlings Honda Service was nothing short of a nightmare. We brought our 2019 Honda Accord in to fix the radio, and what was promised to be a 7-hour job turned into an excruciating 3.5-month ordeal filled with lies and incompetence.
Throughout the process, we were repeatedly told that the parts were on their way and that the repair would be completed by the end of each week. None of these promises were kept. It wasn't until we escalated our concerns to the owner that we received an apology, which seemed more like an attempt to save face than a genuine gesture of accountability.
The introduction of a new service manager, Blaine, did not improve the situation. Despite his assurances, when we finally got our car back in early July, the radio worked for a mere three hours before failing again. To make matters worse, our automatic start had been disabled, indicating further mishandling of our vehicle.
When we reached out to Blaine, his response was dismissive and delayed, only willing to address the issue two weeks later. Upon returning the car on July 19th, the staff seemed unaware of our appointment, and we had to wait while they contacted Blaine at home.
After another ten days, Blaine informed us that the radio had been damaged by water from a leaking window, claiming it wasnt a "Honda window"—a statement Honda later confirmed as false. To add insult to injury, they blamed us for the damage and refused to cover the amplifier under our extended warranty.
This entire experience has been beyond frustrating. Darlings Honda Service had our car for months and failed to identify or fix the problem correctly. Their handling of the situation was dishonest and unprofessional. If we could give them a negative rating, we would. Darlings, it's time to wake up and do the right thing. We are considering taking our story to the news to ensure other customers are aware of the level of service they wont enjoy.
