This guy is the BEST, and everyone I know who has ever been to his shop says the same. He KNOWS BMW, (he rebuilds and shows older models) and he is a nice honest guy. All the work in his shop is done right under his nose---not by some minimum wage mechanic in a back room while the boss keeps clean fingernails. Lots of "high falooters" who drive BMW for the prestige are frightened off because the shop is small and a bit cluttered and not in a ritzy part of town. But the work area is immaculate, and is clearly visible to anyone walking in. Unlike many shops, there are no large signs saying that customers aren't allowed in the work area for "insurance reasons"--wink, wink. I almost sold my 95 BMW after one year of ownership because I had such bad experiences with the dealer's work which was covered by an after-market warranty. Terry's prices are a fraction of the dealer's, he is much more knowledgeable, and gives far better service. He turned my frustration into satisfaction, and convinced me to keep my little gem of a 318. It now has almost 100,000 miles on it and I love my car AND my mechanic!!

I bought my BMW from Terry Sayther, a 1987 325is. He overhauled it and fixed everything he found wrong with it before selling it to me, but kept to his original selling price. I've had it more than a year and a half now, and aside from the new clutch and a tune-up haven't needed to invest anything in maintenance. Fun car, great shop.

These guys are awesome. We moved to Austin 5 years ago and I hated leaving my old mechanic behind. About a year ago I found these guys and have never looked back. They are extremely knowledgeable and do an excellent job. I've called for some assistance on a couple jobs I've done myself and they were glad to help me (even though they were talking themselves out of work). Although their shop rate is not cheap, they are extremely fair about charging for their time. Once I took the car in and said, "help me find the leak," so I could fix it myself. They raised the car, a couple of the guys looked at it for awhile, and then sent me on my way charging me for only 15 minutes. Try getting that kind help at the dealership. Going to see them makes you enjoy owning the car -- just the opposite of an average service relationship.

Mixed bag but I think ont be going back. Honesty and communication is something they fail at and do not own up to it.
