Before we jump in further, it’s important to note that the insurance costs we’ll refer to below are for Nissan Rogue models that were sold new as recently as 2017. Insurance data takes a while to percolate, so figures for the most recent models of the Rogue aren’t available yet.

It’s also important to note that we focused mostly on price here, meaning we searched for the lowest rates over other factors such as customer service/satisfaction and coverage.

(*) Regional insurer that may not offer coverage in all areas
GEICO - GEICO is the second-largest insurer in the nation and is known for its low rates. The company offers all sorts of benefits, from mechanical breakdown coverage to covering accidents that take place if the vehicle is being used in a ridesharing service.
Erie - Sure, you’re not going to find Erie’s coverage everywhere, but if you’re in one of their service areas, you’re in for a treat. Rogue drivers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia are eligible for Erie’s services. The company offers excellent accident forgiveness programs, travel expense coverage, and even pet injury coverage of up to $500 for some policies.
USAA - USAA is only available to active military members, vets, and their families, but offers solid coverage for those who qualify. The company offers many discount programs that range from safe driver discounts to good student discounts, and has several add-ons that make their insurance policies a great value.
Progressive - It’s far from the cheapest insurance for your Nissan Rogue, with a national average price of $895, but the added cost will be worth it for many people. Progressive also earns high marks for its add-ons, which include savings for auto-payment, pet injury protection, and coverage for custom parts and equipment.
Honorable Mentions * Texas Farm Bureau: $851 * Tennessee Farmers: $866 * USAA: $883
Like ordinary car insurance, there are a million discounts that you can apply to drop your insurance cost significantly. When we got quotes, we didn’t select any of these, but they were all questions on the quote engine that would impact the overall insurance rate:
Pay in full - If you can afford to pay up in full at the time you choose an insurer, you can save money. That’s not true of every insurer. GEICO and Progressive offer a nominal discount for paying up front, while others may not offer anything for paying up front.
Maintain Good Credit - As annoying as it can be, insurers look at your credit report when setting rates. If you’ve had trouble keeping up with payments and have accounts in collections all over the place, there’s a good chance you’ll pay more for your auto insurance.
Safety features - This one is pretty easy for most Rogue owners. If your Nissan has advanced safety features like blind spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, or automatic emergency braking, make sure your insurer knows about the features so that you can get a discount for the added safety equipment.
Drive less - This one’s easier said than done, but the less you drive, the less you’ll pay.
Drive carefully - Again, easier said than done. Some accidents may be out of your control, but maintaining a clean driving record without speeding tickets and at-fault accidents is the best way to keep insurance rates as low as possible.
