Infinity Car Insurance Prices and Review

Infinity Car Insurance is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, and offers insurance coverage across four states: Arizona, California, Florida, and Texas. It was founded in 1955 as Dixie Insurance Company. Infinity is known as a company that caters to high-risk drivers and people with spotty driving records.

Review of Infinity Insurance

Independent agents sell policies, and the company offers coverage for people who might have trouble getting insurance elsewhere. This mostly includes folks who’ve had past violations, DUIs or at-fault accidents.

For that reason, Infinity is a good choice for people who might struggle to otherwise obtain insurance. That said, Infinity has been dealt more than its fair share of complaints. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners received more than an average number of complaints against Infinity in 2019. Even so, the insurer offers many of the same auxiliary benefits that top-rated insurers do.

Back to the big issue with Infinity. Slow payment of claims and unresponsive customer service agents are unacceptable in today’s world. Some customers report having to wait as many as four weeks after an accident to have a claim paid, which required them to pay out of pocket for the expenses up front. Given that the company only operates in a few states, this is likely to be a non-issue for many, but we would recommend shopping for an insurer with a more stable reputation.

Customer Reviews

Unfortunately for Infinity, the people who tend to review its insurance products are the people who are least satisfied by those products. A sampling of the juiciest Better Business Bureau reviews includes:

  • “On 11/7/2020 A driver insured by this company hit my $50,000 vehicle from behind. Completely admitted fault. I've been assigned an adjuster and given his number, every time I call the phone disconnects and doesn't give me a voicemail. I have lawyers on stand by and so does my body shop I will not tolerate these games. Your driver hit my car I need answers as soon as possible.”
  • “I was in an accident on 9/17/20 and I called in my claim early the next morning. I was told an adjuster would be contacting me within 24-48 hours. Until then I was told to have my vehicle towed from the tow yard to my house. (My car was not driveable) Obviously just to save the company money. Now being 3 days later and not hearing from anyone I have called at least 7 times so far and have been transferred around just to be disconnected. I have full coverage and I'm just trying to see what I need to do to get a rental car so I can get to and from work. This has been the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I will definitely be canceling my insurance and finding a new insurance company for my next vehicle. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING INFINITY DO NOT DO IT!!!!”

Clearsurance.com offers reviews that average 2.1 stars out of 5, but there are a few positives in the pile:

  • “I have been with this company for many years. Friendly people with very good, prompt service to fit your needs.”
  • “I thought I was paying the lowest with State Farm. Bought a van in October 2019 and the dealership ended up helping us save. We were paying $130 for one vehicle with State Farm and now are paying $130 for 2 vehicles with Infinity. Everything is the same in our policy as well. I highly recommend.”
  • “I think it's excellent company. They have a nice customer service and willing to attend at all times.”

It’s worth noting that the worst complaints against Infinity are from people who were involved in an accident with another driver who was insured by the company.
