Donate a Car in New Jersey

Donate a swamp buggy, car, motorcycle, RV, boat, and almost any other vehicle to public radio in New Jersey! New Jersey has over 2.7 million vehicles registered across the state. Do I need to fill out any paperwork to complete my car donation?

To complete your New Jersey car donation, you’ll have to transfer your vehicle title. Follow these steps to transfer your title in New Jersey:

  • PRINTING and SIGNING your name in the SELLER section on the back of the title.
  • Make sure your name is printed and sign EXACTLY as it appears printed on the front of the title.

If you’re missing the vehicle title, you can obtain a duplicate from the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission. Visit the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission website to find out how.

What will happen on the day my car is picked up?

On the day your vehicle is scheduled to be picked up, you’ll have to hand over the completed title to the tow driver, along with the vehicle’s keys. After your vehicle is sold, you'll receive a donation receipt for tax purposes.

Can I donate my car to a New Jersey public radio station if it won’t pass an emissions inspection?

Yes! All vehicles newer than 1995 or diesel vehicles 1997 or newer must pass an emissions inspection in New Jersey.  If your vehicle is currently clogging up your driveway because it failed, we’ll help you get rid of it and you’ll put it to good use. A vehicle donation is a great way to move that car along and support your favorite New Jersey public radio station.
