What paperwork do I need for a Public Radio car donation in Ohio?

To complete the vehicle donation process, you’ll have to properly transfer your Ohio title. Ohio requires the title to be notarized, so do not sign the title until you’re in the presence of a notary! Here’s how you can fill out your title:

  • Transfer your title by printing and signing your name in the seller section on the back of the title beneath the section that says “ODOMETER CERTIFICATION”.
  • Make sure your name is signed exactly as it appears printed on the front of the title.

If you’re missing your vehicle title, you can obtain a duplicate from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. You can find out how on the Ohio BMV website.

What should I do when my car is picked up?

The day of your scheduled vehicle pickup, you’ll need to provide the driver with the completed title, along with the keys. After the vehicle sells, you'll receive a vehicle donation receipt for tax purposes.

Can I donate my car to an Ohio Public Radio station if it won’t pass an emissions test?

Yes! Ohio requires that cars between four and 25 years old must go through an E-Check emissions inspection. If your car won’t pass and is currently clogging your driveway, we’ll help you get rid of it and you’ll put it to good use. A vehicle donation is a great way to move that car along and support your favorite public radio station.
