What paperwork is needed for my car donation?
To complete your Tennessee car donation, you’ll need to transfer your vehicle title. You can do this by following these steps:
- PRINTING and SIGNING your name in the SIGNATURE OF SELLER(S) section on the back of the title.
- Make sure your name is EXACTLY as it appears printed on the front of the title.
If you’re missing the vehicle title, you can obtain a duplicate from the Tennessee Department of Revenue. You can download the form on the Tennessee DOR website.
What will happen when my car is picked up?
On the day your vehicle is scheduled to be picked up, you’ll need to give the driver the completed title along with the keys to the car. After the vehicle is sold, you'll receive a donation receipt for tax purposes.
Can I donate a car to a Tennessee public radio station if my car won’t pass an emissions inspection?
Yes! If your vehicle is from 1975 or newer and registered in Hamilton, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson or Wilson counties, you’re currently required to have your car’s emissions tested. If your vehicle won’t run and it’s clogging up your driveway, we’ll still take it. A vehicle donation is a great way to move that car along and support your favorite Tennessee public radio station.
