Car Donation to Public Radio in Georgia
The Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program will deliver 80% of the revenue generated through a donation directly to the Georgia public radio station of your choice. What do you need to know when donating a vehicle in Georgia?
Of course, there’s a bit of paperwork you need to fill out. On the day your vehicle is picked up, you’ll need a few things to complete the process:
Vehicle Title: In order to complete your Georgia car donation, transfer your title by PRINTING and SIGNING your name in the seller field at the bottom of the FIRST SECTION on the back of the title, and be sure to fill it out EXACTLY as it appears in the Registered Owner section.
What do I have to do when my vehicle gets picked up?
You’ll have to fill out some paperwork in order to complete your Georgia car donation. On the day your vehicle is picked up, you’ll need to transfer the vehicle title by:
- PRINTING and SIGNING your name in the seller field at the bottom of the first section on the back of the title.
- Be sure to fill out your name exactly as it appears in the Registered Owner section.
- If you don’t have the vehicle title, you can file for a replacement with the state.
- Georgia doesn’t require a title on things like mopeds or snowmobiles, so check with us on the requirements before donating.
The day of your scheduled vehicle pickup, you’ll need to provide the driver with the completed title, along with the keys. After the vehicle sells, you'll receive a vehicle donation receipt for tax purposes.
Can I donate my car in Georgia if it doesn’t pass emissions testing?
Yes! If your car is 25 years old or older, you’re exempt. Most cars have to pass emissions in Georgia. When they fail, they can often be relegated to permanently disabled status, but we’ll take it! We’ll even take a non-running car and you’ll see a tax benefit along with the satisfaction of helping your favorite local Georgia public radio station.
What stations does the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program support in Georgia?
Your donation to the Car Talk Vehicle Donation Program will provide funds to the Georgia Public Radio station of your choice. WABE - 90.1 FM is Atanta’s NPR station that relies on donations from the Atlanta community. A car donation to WABE will help fund programs such as City Lights with Lois Reitzes, Closer Look with Rose Scott, and Political Breakfast.
WUGA - 91.7 FM is operated by the University of Georgia and serves listeners throughout Athens and Northeast Georgia. Programs like Athens News Matters, Wordland, and WUGA Health Desk benefit from your vehicle donation.
